Heritage

The name Bontemantel stems from the first Dutch venture in Russia. In 1640, the Amsterdam company “Bontemantel” was formed, focusing on fur trade. This explains the Dutch name, which means ‘fur coat’. The association of the warmth of a fur coat symbolises Bontemantel’s way of doing business, with strong personal involvement and commitment to its clients. Another aspect is the “Bont” part in Bontemantel, which could be translated as “with a wide variety”. This aspect fits to our own team’s variety, with people from business and government as well as from the academic world.
